Session Information

Wireless transmission faces significant challenges when the propagation medium shifts from air to more hostile environments such as water, seawater, snow, or ice. These media introduce substantial propagation losses, making reliable communication and power delivery extremely difficult.
In recent years, however, increasing research efforts have focused on overcoming these challenges through the development of advanced technologies --- such as underwater wireless communication, wireless power transfer in marine environments, and microwave-based snow and ice melting systems.
This special session highlights the latest advancements in wireless technologies designed for extreme environments, including icy surfaces, snowy terrains, and underwater conditions. We welcome contributions across a broad range of topics, including antenna design, communication systems, wireless power transfer, and microwave-based de-icing technologies. By fostering interdisciplinary discussion and sharing innovative research, this session aims to drive forward the development of wireless solutions for harsh and demanding environments.
